I would try to get the car on a diagnostics, eg(tech2) and see what the fault is, never seen an ecu go wrong.

Well,if it does turn out to be that its not a huge problem. You will have a replacement for a very reasonable price. ;) :D

Adrian collected my ecu etc from me at the weekend to try and help diagnose his problem. I had a text from him last night to say that swapping the ecu has solved the problem completely.
That's the second 2.6/3.2 ecu  an OOFer has had a problem with (to my knowledge) in the last couple of months, which is interesting.
I have always thought them to be ultra reliable, but maybe they are now getting old enough to be the cause of problems more regularily ?

As this is in the "for sale" section, soon as I get a mo I'm gonna list the faults & diagnostic path to conclusion in the electrical bit, with a reference to the other one you linked me to....may make useful reading for others in the future

Thanks again mate

Out of interest are they one in the same ?

Afaik 2.6 ecu isn't quite the same as the 3.2. A 2.6 will run with 3.2 ecu (and vice versa) but not very well as the parameters for fuelling etc. will be miles out. Could be reprogrammed I suppose, but that might cost as much or more than a known good replacement.
