What's the point in longer life?

Anyone who has changed plugs on a Mig V6 (and is being honest) will know the answer to that.

I've torqued spark plugs to correct value, yet on inspection are looser than fitting.

Not come across that myself.  Did you grease them do you recall?

Plugs, air and pollen filter change and a cuppa takes an easy twenty minutes ::) coincidentally much the same time it takes to ensure all the oil has drained from the sump :y

People make the plug change on a V6 to be harder than it actually is. They're .... or more to the point, plug 6  ..... not that difficult to change. There are plenty of other cars with more difficult plugs than an Omega V6 ...... eg 24 valve Senator, Smart Roadster (especially a Brabus version)

Indeed PSA/Volvos 2.7/2.8/2.9/3.0 V6 is an absolute bastid, especially the 406/605/XM/Xantia being the wrong way round an' all ::)

Never had an issue myself changing V6 plugs, including No 6 - as said by others takes minutes with the right kit.  Maybe our know all, argumentative jedi hasn't got the right kit or is inept at mechanical work. ::)

How about iridium spark plugs?

Welcome to the forum. :y

A waste of money in an Omega, in my opinion. A bog standard GM 4 electrode plug has no problems lasting 80k miles (although, as said, it will work loose well before then ;D). What is there to gain from fitting a more expensive plug? Even on LPG, GM plugs have proved to be fine in these engines.

The only time a fancy plug is warranted would be on a very heavily tuned engine where it's been proven to be too hard on plugs for a standard plug to work.. In my humble opinion.

You either need to invest in the correct tools or perhaps learn to do it right?  ::) Plug change is no issue on V6, with either coil pack or HT leads.
