South Derby - any good cafe?
« on: 31 January 2007, 08:26:29 »

I'm up in Derby tomorrow with the boss, and will be looking for a decent cafe on the extreme south of Derby/Alverston area - any locals know anywhere?

Well the best one I know is just down the road actually.

Called Lynns cafe on Osmaston road (just round the corner from me). It is about 1.5 miles from Alvaston.

If tell me exactly where you are going to be I will ask in the office. :)

If you fancy going a little further afield, the grub at the Stenson Bubble is okay (oddly enough its situated in Stenson, just south of Derby).

Or if you fancy a themed type Harvester style pub, theres the Oast House on the Ring Road (A5111) at the top of Sinfin Lane (Known as the Barracks).

I prefer this sort of place when travelling for work as you always know what you'll get (and they usually take the corporate credit card!)

When I was little, I got a lift in with dad every day (school was 5m away, and da worked in same village).  He had a Glen Campbell tape that was always played in car. The tape was stretched, knackered, but still it was played daily. Drove me mad. Thats my excuse....

Correct, it was Galveston, but the humour of the gag hit me right away, hence the rushed need for screen cleaning kit!!
