Stunning Vectra with 3.2 Omega Engine
« on: 29 January 2007, 14:47:54 »

I love it but its over priced

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-VECTRA-B-3-2-GSI-V6-MSD-Irmscher-2-5-2-6_W0QQitemZ300075102193QQihZ020QQcategoryZ9858QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

For those that cant view ebay at work i have extracted a bit of his description...............

The original 190 BHP 2.5 litre engine has been removed and a 3.2 litre Y32SE engine from a 2003 Omega has been modified to fit in its place.  The replacement engine has been remapped and the car is now running at approximately 230 BHP. The engine has a 2.6 flywheel and clutch and has a decat pipe onto a stainless steel Magnex Exhaust System with twin slash cut tailpipes to look standard. The inlet plenums have been custom finished in shadow chrome.

....................So a 230bhp Vectra with Omega engine. Bet thats uncontrollable !!!

I presume this would be difficult - mating it to original box and well the whole engine sits at a different angle as well doesnt it.

Its a Vectra B so its an unreliable crock of ......with iffy steering racks, power steering pumps, rear rose bushes, gear linkages.....etc etc

MUCH to much money

Fitting would be easy as you are simply replacing the 2.6v6 (standara Vectra GSi fit) lump with a 3.2....
Not sure as the earbox would be upto it (another Vecrta weakness!)

well its unique...and quick :-/

Have driven a 2.5 omega manual and its quick.
Have driven a 2.5 vectra manual and its quicker ( obviously smaller)

God only knows how quick a 3.2 litre manual omega would be if it shed some weight ( like this)

Anyone got any idea the weights of a 3.2 omega and a 2.6 vectra?

3.2 Omega would be 1.7 / 1.8 ton? Veccy prob more like 1.5 ton.

No offence intended but its... a Veccy B! - There ok as motors go, but find them incredibly uncomfortable and claustrophobic inside. Veccy C is no better, sat in one for a while I was waiting for parts at a dealer.

Although I can really pass judgment as I have only ever sat in them, never driven. So maybe I am wrong!  ::)

Vectra C is hideously ugly though, at least some Vec Bs are decent looking although generally only the 4-door variants I'm not too keen on the wagons nor the hatched versions. I loved clarkson's comment when test driving the Vectra C SRi -- "I don't know why they fit a steering wheel to this thing, it doesn't do anything" as it understeers like crazy round every bend ;D

Personally if I were looking for a FWD repmobile class car it'd be the Mondeo every time, better looking, better handling and according to all the reports more reliable too. Quite why anyone buys the Vectra C is beyond me (maybe savage depreciation helps), there are loads of better cars in that class.

The Veccy-C doesn't understeer any more than expected - the Clarkson review was done in a prototype car, and he was warned they hadn't sorted the suspension for the power.

I've not pushed a new Mondeo to compare, but imho the Veccy-C has the better ride - I've done a 180mile each way trip in a Veccy-C and it fine ride wise, and comfortable (though not as good as Omega)

It is ugly at front though (partly due to the new rules to protect stupid pedestrians)...
