Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: remote start alarm
« on: 20 February 2008, 14:41:59 »
OK, heres my tuppence halfpenny.

I have a remote start on the Hundy, professionally fitted.

In order to remote start the car, a manual gearbox for reference.

you must follow this procedure.

Stop car moving, engage handbrake, gearstick to neutral.

Remove key.

Exit vehicle with turbo timer and engine running.

Lock vehicle using fob within one minute.

Then and only then will the car remote start from the fob.

I was lucky, Mello Yello is 17 years old and in true Jap fashion has all the cutesey things like a neutral sensor available at the ECU.

I won't disclose the make of the alarm but it is a CAT 1 thatcham approved job.

Whilst I accept it is illegal to start the car on a road, it is not illegal to start the car on private property.

As for the immobiliser part, if your car like the omega has a built in immobiliser what they do is take a working key, hide it very carefully within the vehicle somewhere inaccessible, then wind an antenna around said key which the alarm then 'amplifies' at the ignition barrel.

Just my observations/thoughts.

 8-)

PS I love getting in my toasty warm car with de-iced windows whilst the neighbours are freezing there behinds off
 ;D

Easy, type carin on fleabay, they come up all the time.

You're looking for a SYS581/75 or SYS582/75 as a direct replacement.

they are not coded as such but, and this is only an educated guess, I think there are calibration settings hidden within the service menus for things like the angle the unit is fitted at and speed pulses etc. I haven't managed to get any other service codes as yet only 6330

You should pick one up for around £30

Unplug the smaller connector on the back of the brain.

Press and hold the eject button and reapply the connector.

Wait ten seconds release eject button and try inserting the disc again.

Are you sure it's the correct disc ?

Three questions :

Has it ever worked ?
Are you riding the clutch a little ?
What speed are you doing when you try and activate it ?

Cheers

ok cheers, also one more question, i have an elite, and it has 2 subs in parcel shelf (although not the bose setup i dont think) if i buy a new head unit, will this work ok with the subs, as i asumme the subs already in the car have an amp, and the new Head unit will have amplified outputs aswell? will two amplifiers cause conflict as such?
Aren't the speakers on the rear shelf just plain passive bass drivers, not subs? If so, changing the head unit will still drive them using existing wiring.

If they're genuine subs then they must have either crossovers wired in somewhere along the line or the head unit has a dedicated sub out channel.

My '99 CDX has Vx loom wiring with a multiplug on the end hanging from just under the parcel shelf so I presume it had something there at one time but no speakers under the shelf and the pre-cut speaker cut-outs in the metal are intact. Not sure if an amp was removed or it's standard to have the wiring hanging there in case it's needed (doubtful)?

Are you talking about a four pin connector hanging out of the shelf on the left hand side ? From memory I think it has +ve ground and switched ?

I think that's for the rear blind

Indeed it looks identical in the picture.

That was it's location so I can't see it being a completely different plug.
So did you just plug the sat nav loom into this and then everything came to live.

And then did you route the loom to the boot to the carin cd and route it under the dash to the screen etc.

PS; Check out the meets , gathering section. There's a meet it Callander this Sunday about 2 o'clock :y

Basically yes, sounds simple but it was quite a challenge  :y

Writing a how-to at the moment.

Right, Stereo feed is a no-go for now, there are no pins in the connector to attach to. Will have to try a Scrappie sometime.

Today was pretty 'scrapheap challenge' tastic, a few challenges encountered and I will do a 'how-to' with pictures when I should be working on Monday.

So sat-nav is now in and working, only question left is how do I take the outer rear of the rear seat off to pass the cables through?

th
eThanks for all the help guys

UPDATE - Fitting in progress

JACKPOT !!!!

No I haven't won Euromillions, but when I opened the passenger kick panel, the first thing I saw was the elusive 6 pin connector sticking out of the loom above X1 !!!

I thought 'I can't really be that lucky can I ?'

Checked the colours and they matched, so plugged it in and voila the nav system fired.

Off out now to try and get the sound through the stereo - more soon.

PS TheBoy, both units work completely.
