I saw one in Chicago, had to to a double take on it, was the rear lights which gave it away.

There are a few in the UK, I went to RAF Mildenhall (US Air Base Near Cambridge) a few months and saw 2 parked there.

The dash has two extra dials, Voltmeter and Oil Pressure, both of which are missing from modern cars... but on the other hand it replaced the MID, so on balance I still prefer the Omega dash.

Very sad that modern cars do not have Oil Pressure gauge... or transmission fluid temp gauge... or an Ammeter... I like to do what my car is doing, but this is no longer an option.

Be thankful you still have a temp gauge....as these are getting rare now to!

It seems like most manufacturers are removing any gauges that move around in the course of normal operation. Not surprising really when you see the amount of fretting that goes on about what temperature engines should run at when in reality it's normal for them to vary a little.

I have seen a few setups where the temperature gauge is driven by the ECU and has a huge dead zone engineered in the centre of the gauge so it doesn't move at all between 70 and 100 degrees C! Makes the temperature appear rock steady but of course doesn't give you any warning of a problem until it has become a crisis.

Then there's the MX 5 oil pressure gauge that's actually driven by an oil pressure switch. It has 2 possible indications: "normal" and "is that my big ends dying". Sadly, a light on the dash would have been cheaper and easier to spot when a problem occurred. >:(

OK, my dream dashboard...

Oil Pressure gauge

Oil temp gauge at oil cooler inlet

Oil temp gauge at oil cooler outlet

Coolant Temp gauge at coolant bridge

Coolant Temp gauge at rad inlet

Coolant Temp gauge at rad outlet

Transmission Fluid Temp gauge

Voltmeter

Ammeter

And where will they all fit? On a Multi-Function Display unit of course (a-la-Airbus).
