Looks more like the suppressor capacitor that sits across the supply to the coil pack to me. ::)
Thats what I thought it was. I also thought I read on here a few days/weeks back that it was bolted to the back of one of the cylinder heads? Or was I dreaming? ::)

6.8 years  :o

Thats bloody impressive!  :y

Dunno how long my home server has been running since last reboot, will check and see in a moment. However it has been turned on 24/7 (minus the few hrs when its been off for hardware changes / UPS upgrades etc) for almost 5 years. Its only a crappy IBM eServer too! x206 IIRC... Which reminds me, need to shove a new backup tape in - its VERY VERY overdue  :-X
I know none of the servers at home have long uptimes - the hypervisor that they all sit on has only been up approx 166 days.  Which is probably around the time when I swapped out the server hardware (July iirc)

Just looked and uptime is 140 days and 40 mins... Still not bad for home use I guess... (Windows 2003 on it). Want to get my hands on a better server to play about with hypervisors next - problem is finding a server which is A) Very Cheep B) Reliable C) Not too noisy and C) Supports VT

Oh and also one that doesn't turn my room into an oven!  ;)

General Car Chat / Re: End of the DVLA regional centres
« on: 14 December 2011, 00:01:19 »
I dont think this is a good move.

I've used one of their regional offices when I put the private plate on the car.

I also sent my mum+dad to sort out my first car (bought it as a Cat C), so what actually happens here, they cant expect everyone to drive to Wales who buys a Cat C car etc?  ??? ::)

General Car Chat / Head Gasket Update

I guess most will have seen this thread : http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=96453.0;all

Well... this afternoon I've started the strip down...

Fairly straight forward so far. Whats so hard about the 'B' bolt? Ok PAS pipe is in a stupid place, but bend it out the way and your sorted, took all of 2 mins to get the B bolt out? However the coolant transfer bolts are a real pain in the back side! Would be easier if the oil cooler pipes weren't there too, but hay ho. Also guess a ratchet spanner on the bottom bolt would speed things up a bit.

Anyways, heres some photos showing how far I've got to:

I spy with my little eye something beginning with 'V'  :) :)

Theres something cool about camshafts....

Oh and if your wondering why the oil doesn't look 'milky', its because I changed it about 10 miles before stripping her down.

No waste gate on these as they are a variablke geo turbo.

Read the codes as it could be a few things, question has to be, why the hell is it being revved to 4K!

Will read codes in the morning  :y

Unfortunately the road from my sisters requires you to go up a steep hill, in order to get past the slow moving lorries you need to use all of that tiny turbo! If you change up before hitting 4K you'll end up in a rev range below when the turbo cuts in and just end up slowing down.
Regardless the engine should be able to rev to the limiter, if you put your foot flat to the floor when it's in neutral it should be able to rev up to the red line.

PS. The paint stripper has done a good job!  8)

you can't with the new focus, pug 308 or vw transporter..if you are parked up it wont rev past 2500 rpm :y

I always thought that diesels were taken to the limiter during the MOT? Hows this work if they are limited at 2500rpm???

Hotel21 has replied to the thread:
"That is naughty software and therefore not a discussion point on this forum."

So I assume you have posted a link to some software/files of some description which are copyrighted (ie a pirate program/document)

I've got a couple of CB's kicking about. Had a play about 18 months ago. York was very quiet, however after a little drive to a high point just outside York, I started picking up allsorts from South & West Yorkshire. (Most of which sounded like Rotherham/Barnsley/Sheffield type accents to me). We tried to make contact for a while, but got nowhere, assume they were all too far away.

However on another night, we manage to speak with a guy from Castleford – admittedly I did have to cheat and use a small 30w burner… :-X

Still keep meaning to dig it out and have another play, but never get the time really.  :'(
