rough running still no better

hi had car to garage after fitting new plugs and leads but garage said it not dis pack but did not no what was upseting my car . they said at 3000 revs or any others ie 4000 /5000 / it did not missfire so they said poss not dis pack.
can any one suggest some think to try , i was thinking £20 quid petrol and a bottle of redx.will smoke abit but dont no what to try .by the way did put some redx in after it first started missing. just to say starts first time and does not cut out.  hope some one can help thanks for reading .CARETAKER. :( :(

What engine is it and was it a stealer that said it was not the dis pack.give us some details to work with here mate. ::)

hi mate it is a 2.5 on a p reg with 112000 on it with history and in great condition. thanks caretaker

Genrally the things that cause a missfire are  in order of prob 1= dis pack
                                                                                         2= leads
                                                                                         3= plugs

If you can swop the leads with a new set try that, then the plugs and finally the dis pack as this is the hardest to do ::)

Quite often if one of the above are weak it will only misfire at idle or when under heavy load, Just because it fires OK at a certain RPM doesn't mean all is well.

Have the ECU been checked for trouble codes?

hi mates it has got new leads and plugs in and the leads were bad enough to fit i got big hands so that didnt help so can anyone tell me how to take dis pack of as it seems garage may be telling fibs about not dis pack ,can anyone help thanks CARETAKER
ps have had car on code reader and no fault found.

hi i am not bad with cars but can see dis pack looks tricky so any advice would be help full thanks caretaker

i did myn two weeks ago quite futi you need to take off the casing off the top of the engine then there is 4 screws to take out of the coil pack and the connector you need to get it to the left hand side of the engine to get it out watch the thermostat wire good luck.

Remove scuttle, and you can (almost!) access DIS!
