toyota avensis with weird noise

My father has a 51 plate avensis - after braking, when releasing the brake pedal there is a sort of loud spring noise ' g doinggggg' like.  more often than not.  noise is toward front centre of the car.

Has anyone got an idea what it could be?  checked the obvious, broken coil spring, broakes seem in good order etc

may sound daft but check around the pedal look at the carpet or any loose wires

herd similar on another car when ever the brake pedal was press then take your foot off there was a cluck spring sort of sound and it turned out to be the carpet and floor mat
