My mum keeps doing the same, and then out of impatience (and being a martyr) she will not rest it for long enough, and it repeats.

So don't be a martyr, the world will still go round whilst you are resting on the sofa watching quality daytime TV....   ....then you'll feel even worse, and the foot won't seem so bad

I think that if you've broken it would swell fairly quickly. Could be a tendon or something like that. Best to get it checked though.

And the result is...... it's broken.    Just my shit luck, one piece of bone chipped and another bone broken away. Currently in a removable boot but they are muttering in the corner and that's never a good sign. 

Hope it gets sorted quickly and relatively pain free

or we'll have to change your forum name to "Mr Glass"

Cheers Dave. Back home within two and a half hours of arriving at A&E Dave. The NHS is fixed so it’s all good now.    They’ve fitted a removable boot to support my foot but I’ve got to go back to see a specialist as they seemed unsure about something when they were studying the various Xray angles. A bone in my foot is broken but the bone that’s chipped is puzzling them, as they can’t see where the missing chunk is on the xray. My wife said that I’ve always had something missing, not sure what she means. 
The lucky part is, my cars are automatic and it’s my left foot damaged, so I’m still good to drive, and legally so according to google.

I only had the ball of my foot on the step so my toes took my full weight. Its how we go up steps though isn't it.

My left foot (no, not the film  ) has pissed me off. Just put my foot on the step as I walked in the front door and crack, something gave way in my left foot. Continued for another few paces and another loud crack stopped me in my tracks. Can’t put any weight on it and my usually high pain tolerance level, on a scale of 1 to 10 was a 20.    Luckily we had some crutches in the loft from a previous incident so Mrs YZ had to get them for me, and I’m now on crutches. I should really go to hospital to get it checked out but the last time I went to hospital they kept me in for three months, hence my reluctance.   

Sorry to see this YZ... 

I guess it's time to put your feet up for a while and let Mrs YZ and the family wait on you hand and ...erm.... foot!
