Title: Help! What did I do wrong?
Post by: Bigron on 07 February 2020, 11:53:35
I must have clicked on something and made my desktop icons disappear and now cannot get them back. I;m on another (old, windows XP) computer typing this as I have also lost MS Office.
Please rescue this soppy sod!

Ron.

As Jimbob said, right click on desktop - View - Show Desktop Icons.  :y

I used to take a screenshot of the desktop, leave it on screen and watch them trying to open something. I know, very childish.  ::)

Babbage was a good bloke, Dave; look how lomg my abacus has lasted!
The XP is merely a back-up, enabling me to access the Forum and get the answer to my now solved problem - thanks Jimbob.
My daily driver is a full-fat mainframe Acer Aspire, now running the super-modern Windows 10. Impressed, eh? :y 8)

the abacus is safe on-line  :)
an old windows XP machine has more holes in it's security than a pair of baggy fish net stockings  ;)
congratulations on the computer upgrade to windows 10 young Ron  :y
I doubt your acer Aspire is a mainframe though  ;D :D

windows 10 version 1909 is out but won't auto install on some computers  :y

START > settings > update and security >
check for updates  ;)
