Hazy headlight. facelift 2.2. best way to fix ?????
« on: 26 May 2014, 18:45:01 »

I was at my Dads today an noticed the headlights on his facelift Desmond (2.2 CD petrol, with cruise control fitted :y) were very opaque/ hazy.

I recall reading that they can be polished to get them back to something better ?

What is the best stuff to use to get them back again ?

Not really noticed this issue on my mini-facelift, but headlights "glass" seems plastic/acrylic on my dads facelift and convinced mine are glass on my mini-facelift 2.5 V6 ?

Cheers in advance.

Andy.

Thanks all for links and tips on cleaning.

I have the acrylic clear GM headlight protectors on mine, so perhaps this is why they appear to be in showroom condition underneath  :y :y compared to my dads facelift  :D My Omega being tucked up under duvet in garage with an Ovaltine overnight probably helps as my Dads Omega is outside in the elements poor thing  :o

Thanks again.

Keeping them out of sunlight is the best thing you can do to protect the polycarbonate lenses

I've used the Meguiars kit to good effect too, it's probably the same kit in a different box. :y

Did you need to take the lenses off or just do the outside?

Got my kit today. Gave them a do tonight. Took around 20 minutes. I've got to say its an amazing difference! I didn't think they were that bad, I just thought omega headlights were a bit naff. But been out for a drive in the dark and the difference is amazing. Well worth the £10 it cost. Highly highly recommended. Wish I did before and after pics :(
