battery help.
« on: 16 March 2008, 20:34:10 »

Hi folks, my battery decided to give up the ghost and i,ve had to jump start it the last 2 days by hijacking the next car driving past my garage ;D

What i want to know is..

a: do i need a heavy duty one or will a normal car battery be ok?

b: how much would i be looking at for a new one(cheap as poss cos i'm a bit skint atm)

I've already pestered Timbuk to see if he's got one lying about but it doesn't look like he has.
We're going down portsmouth next friday and i don't fancy jump starting it every time i need to drive it :D

First of all, not alot of economic sense in buying/finding a potentially dodgy battery. No good if it's gonna fail on you when you most need it.

Secondly, you can't be that strapped!?! New ones from vauxhall are around £55-60 retail price, if you find someone with a trade card it's probably cheaper. I'd get a slightly higher rated one if I were you, probably 72AH. 66AH is probably recommended but with so many electrical gizmos on your car it's probably worth getting a better one.

They have a warranty as well so hassle free for a few years  :y

You don't even need to have the cash these days mate!  ::)

Have a word with one of the lads near to you with a card, you might be surprised even more!

All the best  :y

I think you can get cheaper from motor factors but it's false economy on a very important item.
