why not just unplug the speaker and test it from the connection you can see...  removing it if it works is a tad pointless ???

You`ve located the speaker wires, thought it would be a simple task to trace them.  :-\

either connect any speaker to the ecu side, or a 9v battery to the speaker side and listen for "clicks" as you make/break the connection .. crude but simple way of testing a speaker .. if you hear a noise the speaker works and the problem is elsewhere ....

I'm interested in knowing what SVO / DPG stand for .. And I presume it's not a good thing that its one of these  :-\ ..was an ex chauffeurs car and being the elite most likely not ex plod ?

Assume nothing...

Joffs old 3.2 Elite estate, (now in Scotland), was ex Met.

SVO=Special Vehicle Order, any none retail order, possibly MoD, exact spec could depend on original purpose.

DPG=Diplomatic Protection Group, a division of the Met, cars usually red, and usually show V6 Special on the log book.

Does the speedo have a calibration sticker on it?

The red connector blocks on the rear courtesy light are absolutely cack all to do with the park pilot.

Carefully pull that black cable that you found behind the c pillar trim, and you will find the speaker attached to the end of it. You'll need to REMOVE the trims in order to drop that side of the roof lining to be able to remove the speaker.

So as per the guide... grab handles off, passenger sunvisor off, pillar trims off, rear screen trim off. Pop the left hand side of the headlining from the body, and carefull pull it down. The speaker should then

A. Be clearly visible, and

B. Be easily removed.

Speedo is like any other Omega, Seen an ex plod more finer white lines.

I'll try Entwood's suggestion 1st if no luck might try a more involving job later down the line it's not like their a necessary that must be fixed straight away just annoying they don't work.

Biggest difference with calibrated speedo is the calibration certificate number just above the trip meter.

Ah it's definitely standard then so not ex police by looks of it. Maybe the Chauffeur company put that rear reading light in the rear then  :-\
