Interesting. I have tried the "dump" we have on other Omega displays, and it appears to work well. However, the Vectra B didn`t accept it.

Have you had success with that then?   :-/

The CID I currently run came from a Vectra B and was re-programmed with the file and works fine.

Its a bit of a apin having to lift the device to program it with the pony prog though

yes, I know the displays are the same for both cars, but when i tried the dump in the display fitted back into a Vectra (not an Omega) it would not accept it.

I`m wondering more along the lines of a protocol change between vehicles, and if the dump we have is restricted to Omega useage only?

Scrtratch that as the code index settings will be different

There is also a mode select pin on pin 1 of the main connector on the CID which certainly needs connecting to 0v on the Omega and is open on the Astra. The SCM's also sudgets its grounded for the Vectra to.

I know (from bitter experience) that if this pin is not grounded then the display wont communicate.

Athough that should not be an issue for a display going into a car with factory fit wiring, it would cuase an issue on a later fit setup.

So if I understand correctly, the dump may be the same, but a hardware or wiring confirguration is required on pin 1 dependant on vehicle?

Yep.

The Astra G has pin 1 left open (I assume there is an internal pull up) and on the Omega and Vectra Pin 1 requires tying to 0V.

If you dont do this it affcts the protocol interface used and Tech2 wont talk to it  :y

MDTM is correct about that pin - I left mine disconnected (I had to modify my loom for CID), and although the radio will pair up to the CID (which it does via CAN), tech 2 wont talk directly to it (via diag line).  Connect it to 0v, and Tech2 can now use diag line.

Same goes for GID and for CCRT display (not that the later is paired)

Thats exactly the problem I was having  :y

I just assumed an incompatability with the dump

If you remove an NCDC 2013 along with the display and re-fit them both together to another car do they need de-pairing?

Dave.

No, the headunit and display are mated to each other so can be moved about as a 'married couple'  ;D

Or technically, a menage a trois, seeing as the cd changer is involved as well.

Simply put, if all parts of the following components, if fitted, are kept together, its fine :y

Head Unit (top half of headunit on ncdc201x series)
Display
CD Changer (bottom half of HU on ncdc201x series)
Telematics

One thing to bear in mind is the display unit will require programming if you wish the fuel computer to be accurate and various vehicle specific options to be reported properly, so items like what transmission, engine size, wheel size, HID's present etc
