Just found this on fleabay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMAZING-QUALITY-SAT-NAV-IN-CAR-DVD-PLAYER-UK-STOCK_W0QQitemZ180454044083QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP?hash=item2a03e631b3 anyone know if there any good or should i avoid buying my eyes are ruling my heart LOL

Avoid it like the plague and ask yourself one simple question.

Why don`t the quality branded manufacturers sell anything this cheap ?

If this is the extent of your budget, and cannot afford to spend near four figures on a quality product that will last, then look around for a second hand unit from a manufacturer that you have heard of.

Have a think about which toys you want, and scour fleabay and local papers - very few older models had bluetooth, but at least the nav was upgradeable (UNLIKE the asian stuff !!)

Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, Clarion have all been making similar things for many years now, and some real bargains can still be found -

not easy though, as everybody is getting caught out by the same piece of junk you were looking at, and are also after the same bargains.

If looking for Double DIN size, suggest to look towards a single DIN pop out screen with a seperate CDRom Nav that could be mounted underneath - it will open up your options of secondhand units considerably

Look up black beauty's Omega in the Gallery thread, she has some interesting ICE fitted in her Mig.  Also V6drift and a couple of others are doing extensive refits.

Not questioning the legitimacy of the seller or that the unit is actually available

Its a crap unit, and not worth spending any more time with it.

And for the record, its only the analogue TV tuners that are dead, it will still be many years yet before the analogue radio is turned off - They do not yet appear to have found a format that they are happy with - even DAB2 is on the cards !!

And that means that they will never spend money on software upgrades in a years time - a new unit will probably be required as has been the case for the last few years

Not really, I just get so pissed off with so many calls each day about this chinese crap that people are selling -

When people realise that they break very quickly, or do not work the way they should, or that upgrades and spares are not and never will be available, its always us that people ring up and then vent their anger at, as a lot of money has been wasted.

People buy Omegas instead of Perodua Nippas as they want a quality car that will be bullet proof and last the test of time, and yet do not feel the need to spend anything more than 50p on a head unit of a brand that wil not be around in 3 months time.

You get what you pay for -

Sorry - rant over   :-X

Not strictly true -

A good quality (branded) head unit will last for a long time, will have a good service and support network of dealers behind it, to ensure longevity, and Nav software will be from one of the two largest Nav houses, Teleatlas or Navtech meaning that future road map upgrades will be available.

A good head unit, like the car itself, is an expensive investment
Pick and choose carefully and wisely
