General Discussion Area / Internet Speed at my New House
« on: 13 April 2015, 20:48:33 »
Hi all.

I've had no Internet connection until tonight due to moving house. With all this new technology changing all the time I'm a bit lost off.

What is a good Internet connection speed these days?

This is what I'm getting.

General Discussion Area / Can anyone help?
« on: 30 March 2015, 19:15:57 »
Hi all.

My daughter needs to get to Serek's garage in Huntingdon to pick up her car. She lives in Warwick and doesn't want to get the train as it takes over 3 hours and she works 9-5.

Is anyone heading that way?

She's happy to pay £40 for petrol.

Thanks very much. :y

General Discussion Area / Mini gearboxes
« on: 23 March 2015, 11:45:36 »
Hi all.

My daughter has a 2001 Mini Cooper. This morning she couldn't engage any gears. She said the clutch pedal is hard to press and she saw some liquid on the ground.

I thought it sounded like a hydraulic leak or could it be something else?

Can anyone recommend a good garage/mechanic in the Midlands? She lives in Warwick.

The gearbox on the Mini was rebuilt 4 years ago.

I feel bad as I chose the car for her. :-[

Thanks very much. :y

General Discussion Area / Improving fuel economy
« on: 21 March 2015, 20:37:51 »
Hi all.

Just wondering whether it would be a problem to my auto box if I coast down hills in neutral? I live in south-east Cornwall and it's very hilly.

Does anyone have any other ideas to improve mpg?  :y

Don't say 'buy another car'.  ;D

Hi all.

I'm buying another Omega and it has an LPG system installed. I was wondering if anyone knows how this affects your insurance? I want to be prepared before I ring my insurance company.

Thanks very much. :y

Omega General Help / Heater only blowing cold
« on: 09 March 2015, 17:23:25 »
Hi all.

Just got my new Omega on Saturday but only noticed today that the heater only blows cold air.

The temperature gauge show that the engine warms up fine and seems totally normal. Maybe not the thermostat then?

I checked the outside temp reading and it said 10 degrees and that fluctuated slightly as you would expect. Or could the sensor still be faulty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated to stop my old teeth from chattering. ;D

Many thanks. :y

General Discussion Area / What car for my daughter?
« on: 08 March 2015, 11:40:25 »
Hi all.

My daughter is looking for a car that is reliable and economical. I'm not sure what to recommend. She likes new Mini's and new Beetles but I have never driven these cars so don't know if they are any good.

I did a buy it now last night on a Mini on Ebay then this morning he guy said he was selling it to someone else so my daughter got really upset. >:(

I really want to give her good advice. She lives in Warwick and her budget is £1500.

Has anyone got any opinions about what she should look for? She is 23 so insurance is an issue.

Thanks for any help. :y

Cars for Sale & wanted / Estate Wanted
« on: 26 February 2015, 16:49:01 »
Hi all.

Has anyone got an estate they would like to sell? I'm moving house again so I need a bigger car. My Ford KA is great and economical and everything but, what with the 2 dogs and move coming up, it's too small.

Any estate considered as I'm on a low budget as usual.

Thanks very much. :y

General Discussion Area / Tablet virus help
« on: 02 November 2014, 10:23:14 »
Hi all.

My housemates tablet has a virus. I've been trying to get rid of it without success. I've tried using a few virus programs but they didn't work.

One program said ' The malicious programs have been flashed into the system directory. Root privileges are required to remove them. Please grant root privileges to 360 security or re flash your device with an official ROM

com.android.server
Trojan

com.android.popupview
Trojan

GoogleCalendarPluginService
Trojan '

I tired giving the 360 program root privileges but it didn't make any difference.

Has anyone got any ideas? I haven't got a clue with these tablets.

It's one of these cheap tablets from China. I think the make is called 'All Winner' or something like that.

Any help would be much appreciated. :y
