People buy less, the government gets less in tax, so they increase the tax, people buy less, the ... you see where this is going ;)

The other day I was looking to see how European prices compare:
http://www.fuel-prices-europe.info/ (http://www.fuel-prices-europe.info/)
Petrol 95 RON € 1,714 UK:
Most Expensive
1. € 2,003 Norway
2. € 1,874 Turkey
3. € 1,814 Italy
Cheapest:
1. € 0,610 Belarus
2. € 0,737 Russia
3. € 0,790 Ukraine
Diesel € 1,735 UK:
Most Expensive:
1. € 1,890 Norway
2. € 1,750 Italy
3. € 1,735 UK
Cheapest:
1. € 0,630 Belarus
2. € 0,745 Russia
3. € 0,752 Ukraine
Quite a variation in prices between the cheapest and most expensive! >:(
Energy prices are the Elephant in the room that is not going to go away. >:(
Some of the prices increases at the moment are due to countries giving banks large amounts of money like QE in the UK, which is invested by the banks into oil and other commodities, where they are currently on a one-way price rise bet, and if the there is a price correction, they can always have some of that lovely fuel duty tax to bail them out. :o >:( >:( >:(
So the banks make increased profits, we get to pay the bill through commodity and UK inflation, while high energy and commodity prices, kill any possible growth. In the UK 5 to 10 years of stagflation here we come. >:( >:( >:(
-
we are in the record list .. >:(
-
We wonder why this country has run out of money , i too can see fuel reaching the £2 A litre mark >:(
"Run out of money"???? RUN OUT OF MONEY???? Spending £50 MILLION PER DAY on Europe, proposed spending of £33 BILLION on a railway no-one wants, £700 BILLION combatting climate change that isn't happening, BILLIONS of oversaeas aid to countries who admit to not needing it - to name but a few - and he says "we've run out of money"????? Has he seen what bears do in the woods lately? There are no insults great enough to describe this man and his policies.

It won't stop at £2 a litre.
There is still the issue of hugely increased world demand AND the issue of uncertainty in some oil producing countries. Wars and blown up pipelines won't help anyone.
Incidentally. Now is a good time to sell the gold I recommended a while back and buy into oil. Safe bet is Shell and to a lesser extent BP. For a wilder punt buy into oil explorers.

they want to take the vat off fuel but theres no chance of that not with these clowns in power

The only thing worse than these clowns Ralf, were the previous clowns. They put us in the mess were in.Worst Government in living memory. ;)

How come when petrol/diesel hit £1 a ltr a 6/7 years ago the tanker/lorry drivers striked?? & it dropped back to 95.9
but then it creeped up to £1.20ltr they striked & again prices dropped to £1.09...
but over last 3years its now gone past £1.20 ltr up to £1.44 average on diesel & they havent striked??? WHY oppsING NOT!!
The recovery company i know local to me in 2000 his annual fuel costs on his 24hour trucks was around 25k
in 2005 35k
in 2010 50k
he use to charge 25p per mile in 2000
but when he trys to charge people £1.25 a mile they get arsey in 2012!!
no wonder companys are going bump!!
i bought my 3.0mv6 remembering how good it was on fuel when i had my 2.5cdx/3.0elite in 2000/2001
but now its killing me i dont want to get rid of her maybe a hydrogen convershion coming on the cards... umm worked on my 1.6 16v astra why not the 3.0 mv6...??? all i need to run it is baking soda & 2ltrs of water..... to do 200 miles....
best price kinda local to me is asda at j2 m5 petrol £1.32.7...??? but 30 miles south in worcester petrol is £1.39.9???
-
When my missus got her job in Sheffield in 2009, I said we had to get rid of the MGZT because it would cost about £50 a week for her to get to work. She now has a 1.6 renault and it costs......£50 a week for her to get to work.

One reason fuel is so cheap in the Ukraine is that the Government have special powers to close petrol stations if they try to generate excessive profits, by charging too much. :y :y :y
Around here with the same law, Tesco would been shut within a week, where Tesco management admit their petrol at our local store is one of the most expensive in the country, where they have wiped out the local competition. >:( >:( >:(
