Ive been offered a T plate 2.5td 5 seater in blue, body work looks good and hes spent alot of money under the bonnent new rad, head gaskets and loads of other bits and asked if i want it for £1500 i am quite interested in buying it is there anything major to watch out for and its got 140k miles on it. And also is that a good price for it? TIA Rik

If its a 5 seater it may not have air at the back and ACE is only standard on the ES models :y

I have an S-plate 2.5 Disco-II.

Sounds like you've had some of the more expensive things done.

Mine needed an engine rebuild, needs a transfer box rebuild and the ABS pump replacing, but I only paid £1400 for it.

Going to be selling it soon for a very cheap £3000 - you'll struggle to find a neat one for less than that.

to answer your question -

check out the ACE system for leaks, a lot of people commit the heanous bodge of removing the system

check to see if the air suspension still works ( same comments apply )

check to see that all of the SLABS ecu functions work ( that's Self Levelling ABS, which includes traction control and hill-descent control )

that's a VERY cheap price

Look for oil around the engine ecu cable if its damp with oil don't touch it as the oil tends to run down the cable and into the ecu rather it :y
Oh and the usual disco rot (boot floor rear body mounts inner wings etc)

Waiting to see that SWMBO wants to keep it,if so then probably yes but not prepared to lose the load space so LPG tanks in place of main tank and small petrol tank in o/s rear chassis/body space
