Hi Guys,
Today as i was driving the the engine stated to feel a little lumpy and under powered, then moments later the EML iluminated, and the car lost a lot of power, she ticks over OK but struddles...
I have tried the pedal test but nothing happens to give me a code.
I have changed the plugs recently, could it be one of those do you think or something more serious.
Your thoughts would be helpful

Need to get the codes read, but if I would have to guess, Cam Sensor.
-
First check the plugs are torqued to the correct value: 25Nm (18.43ft/lbs) (216.28in/lbs), no oil in the plug wells, dis pack pushed fully home and tightened down and multiplug pushed on tightly. Then if still misbehaving, as said, codes need reading before thinking of replacing parts :y
-
OK just poped over to a mate houde who as a code reader, it is reading code PO303 but cannot find it in the codes, it seems to not be firing on all pistons, and my mate thinks the 303 referes to the third pot, either a plug or coil pack.
Now i have changed the plug and there is no diffrence, does the forum think it could be the coil pack ?

Just had the coil pack off, and the cam sensor off and reconnected it all up, and the engine is running a little bit better, but i was wondering, could it be that the coil pack as cooled down, a little and therefore is not breaking down too much, and thus allowing the engine to run a little smother, or am i talking a load of B@&$@£Ks :-\

could it be blocked injectors? only a guess
-
i had similar problem...changed camshaft sensor...ran better for a mile or so then it started all over again...it turned out to be the lambda sensor the 1st one on the front pipe nearest the engine......?????????
-
Symes, does my engine have injectors (2.2L 16v), if so where are they ?
Lambda Sensor, what is this and how many do they have installed ?
-
code 0303 is cylinder 3 misfire...,could be a duff plug or failing coil pack...hth.. :)
-
injectors are on inlet manifold and lambda sensor is like a large bolt sticking out of the side of exhaust with wires on it-hope that helps I mainly do v6 an v8 engines also check inside cap of plug lead-could be loose or corroded
-
Ok
I will take the coil pack off again tomorrow, i have already changed the plug for a new one, i will also check out the lambda sensor.
Come to think of it, the rubber is split on the boots that slip over the plugs, could these be at fault ?
if so any idea what the part number for these are..

A split in the boots tells me that they've had it, as I suspect that they've gone brittle to, instead of being flexible. If the boots are split the spark can ark onto the head. Take off the plastic cover to get to the dispack, replug dispack plug back onto the pack, and in the dark start the engine and see if there is arking going on ::)
You can get a kit from GM that has the boots and new springs for the dis/coilpack the number is 9195820 :y
Not sure of the price, but I think I paid around £13 at the time, so would expect with bit of a rise it'll be around £16-20 perhaps?

Yes, a split boot or one with a piece missing can cause the spark to find the easiest route i.e. the ally head and therefore give a weak or non existent spark at the plug electrode! Boots are available from your local Stealer:
Coil (DIS) Pack Rubber Boot Kit........: " " 9195820 (4 boots + 4 springs)
They may be available singly, i'm not sure though, you would need to ask the guy in the Parts Dept. Hth :y
edit: Must type faster! ;D ;D ;D

Not 100% sure, but think you can only get them brand new from a Vauxhall dealer , and the dealer number is 9195820, so aftermarket kit would probably have a different number.
-
OK, i'll be off to Vauxhall tomorrow ... thanks guys, i will report back tomorrow

This morning i drove to VX parts shop, and she didnt run too bad, but after around half, she started to rumble a bit.
After i changed the Boots and springs for new, I started her up, and the problem is still there, must be the coil pack i think
Would any one pass any further judgement before i spend my hard erned cash on a new coil pack.
I might even see if the forum have one, that i can use untill i can afford a brand new one

Do not buy a cheap coil pack (Been thre done that) buy a Bosch, Vx parts, on ebay will sell you one at a reasonable price and a 5 minute job to replace.... :y :y

Hi Vamps,
