Title: Trade card=life saver
Post by: bedders on 20 March 2008, 18:46:43
I received my trade card from Autobahnstormers during the week & today picked up my self levelling rear dampers.
That'll be £103 each + VAT oh trade card sir
That'll be £65 each + VAT.
Not only that but engine oil (5ltrs) £22.50+ VAT =£9.51+ VAT. :y
I felt like a kid in a sweet shop, now what else can I buy.
For a £20 outlay, i'm suprised not eveyone is a member of ABS.
I cant wait for lots more things to go wrong, so I can save even more money! ;)

Might I ask how long did it take from first-joining ABS until the TC arrived?  ;)

Because I had an MOT failure on my hands, I put a £20 note in the post to their mem sec. (it saved time waiting for cheques to clear) & received trade card & magazines within about 3 days.
The best £20 anyone could spend IMO.
The Omega is fast becoming the most populous car in their club I understand. :y

Can't really see a problem with it if we are paid up members. I even answered a few questions on their forum this week. :y

Only slight issue I can see is if VX started to get the hump about the number of trade cards they are issuing. :-/ I guess getting their POV on the issue would be courteous.

I honestly don't think VX would get the hump, as they are shifting parts for older models now out of production for a few years, as was the case when probably the senators etc were at a similar age.

Its a pity Oof members cant get a card in their own right.
I notice Autobahnstormers only do V6's, do you think they would consider me with my 2.0 Omega?

If you read the ABS site properly .. you only have to have an "interest" in a qualifying car ... so....

....look at my avatar .... say "wow thats nice I'd like one"  ... you now have an interest in a V6... qualifies you to join ......

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've been in touch with the Membership Secretary over at ABS, and currently, as expected, there is not issue with us recommending people join ABS.  Obviously, as a forum, members are free to post that anyway, and we'd only moderate if we felt necessary, but remember that Laidback66, Auto Addict, Marks_DTM_Calib, Hotel21 and I, although we speak as individual members could be seen to be an 'official voice' of OOF, so out of courtesy, we've let ABS know.  Obviously if there are issues from ABS's side with this, we'll make that known so we can resolve it.

Also, to the 2l guys, anyone can join ABS, just need an 'interest' in V6 Omegas, which any Omega owner would have.  I have confirmed this with ABS, so sign up and start saving :D

As to those who ask why OOF do not apply for Tradeclub status, I'm afraid the current rules of the VBOA make it impossible for an Internet (only) forum to become a member of their association.  Some of the other rules go against some of the principals we have, including charging to be members - we believe OOF should remain totally free to all members, and all members are equal - difficult to achieve if you have paid members and free members.  Bottom line is we'd have to charge members for TC cards, so we may as well get another club, such as ABS to handle the VBOA hoop jumping and administration of members  :-X, and OOF stays as-is...
