Title: Breaking questions .
Post by: omega3000 on 04 March 2012, 09:56:22
Im considering breaking if i find its not financialy worth spending any more on my 3.0 elite but a few questions , presuming its got to be sorn first then have i to inform anyone that im breaking or do i do that once im happy with i cant sell anymore parts off it and the shell finally goes to the breakers . Do the breakers charge for picking up the shell ? Just thinking i would get more for it in parts than selling as i can see i would have to spend quite a bit to get another MOT as ive not even started looking at the suspension issues "clunking" over bumps . There is a point when you have to stop and think is it worth spending anymore and just cut the losses and put the funds into something newer . Just thinking about breaking at the mo so any thoughts  ;)

Is it a mini-facelift? (HID's, Steering wheel controls?)

If its not, you not going to make much breaking it  :(

honestly depends on your budget.. mine already swallowed a large sum of money, and I have long past the point of no return..

another fact is that a similiar size, newish sporty sedan costs so dearly , they are almost impossible to buy.. :-\

Thinking of putting the money towards a FL model with the money saved from prep for the MOT and money from breaking  ;)

TBH the suspension issues kind of frighten me , when you read what posssibilites of parts could need replacing it can add up alarmingly , really like the car a lot but getting to the point where i dare not take the wheels off and discover more issues thats going to be costly .

Omega's do last very well, they do wear out, but only if used hard. Mine with 100K miles, has just sailed through its MOT with a couple advisories, brake pads and one brake pipe. My 02 Mig does need front wishbones, but that has about 130K miles.

They last very well, unlike some of the plastic/glued together bodyshell cars around today.

Just been for a drive in it today expecting it to overheat again but it seems fine , all my efforts have been to get the engine running spot on so driving it has been rare  ::) the car seems solid enough , if i had the choice i would replace with genuine parts every time but thats not an option and aftermarket parts are false economy if your going to keep the car esp on suspension parts . Maybe i should take for a pre MOT and see exactly what they find before spending any more  :-\
