Post by: ngrainqey on 05 March 2012, 09:30:26
is it possible to fit the sub in the saloons and do you need the loom or just feed some wires to the rear for it? Thanks

The elite saloons come with 2 Bose subs fitted in the parcel shelf.  You will need to the complete Bose system and loom for it to work properly.

You cannot simply put boose sub in,
Cannot power it with anything actually if you have aftermarket stereo and amplifier (Boose is I believe 2ohm speaker not standard 4ohm impedance)

If your car is not BOSE enabled, ( ie no subs) then you can certainly fit a pair of small subs into the rear shelf, like the OEM ones, but use aftermarket items and a small amp to power them, as the BOSE ones would be far too difficult to wire up and correctly power for the amount of work involved.

If you have BOSE, then you should already have subs fitted ?

Theres hardly any difference in Bass level between a Saloon or Estate on Bose Migs (siting from the front of the Car), but guessing a Estate Sub Box in the boot of the Saloon wouldn't quiet sound right or do the job properly, there not that powerful, so minimal air flow with the rear seats back and locked verses a flimsy load cover on the Estate, IMHO.

Also worth noting that adding an aftermarket Sub to a BOSE car will sound bloody awful, as there will be quite a gap in the frequencies being reproduced.

It sounds like you have probably reached the limits of the BOSE system if you want more bass, and now is the time for some major alterations - ripping it all out is now the next option.
