Title: April 12th, 100th Anniversary of Titanic sinking

My next door neighbour's name is Fred Hichens, his granddad is Robert Hichens who was the helmsman on the Titanic when it hit the iceberg.

He is going to the Meridian studios with his mum on Friday for an interview as part of the TV coverage of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic on April the 12th.

At the end of the US inquiry into the sinking Robert Hichen's reputation was in tatters as a result of his actions in control of lifeboat 6.
