Title: Leaking Radiator
Post by: PhilRich on 12 March 2012, 21:29:55
Saw wisps of steam coming out of front of bonnet, on inspection found tiny cracks in the plastic on flat top of the section supplying the radiator top hose. Has anyone had any success with a repair on the radiator plastic sections? ???

I thought about repairing when I found cracks (like fatigue cracks) in the same place (2.6 2002). When cold, the rad seemed solid enough to try. But when it was hot, I found that the outlet had the consistency of cheese and just crumbled when I put a load on it. So, IME, the cracks are a sign that the rad is terminally FUBAR.

Yes some DIY repairs are OK, but better, professional jobs are expensive. Plenty of breakers on here with good prices, just the transport to arrange.
