Depends what it is really.
Exactly.
Guess chav would be if the windows were down whilst it is 2 deg outside.
-
I have a T shirt which reads.....
If it's too loud, your too old :P
-
Unfortunately I found out to my cost that years of being subjected to loud music does have a price. In my younger days most weekends were spent watching loud rock bands, clubbing and around 40 years of DJing on mobile disco's have left me with permanent Tinitus (ringing in the ears). Ironically I still like loud music and seeing bands but the Tinitus is hell the following day! ::)

No its got to b a nice day like yesterday if the windows down

I'm guilty of this, but not with the windows down in built up areas. Feel like a right tit so keep them up. However windows down on the motorway all wrapped up warm, sometimes with the seat heater on and the wind blowing through the hair. Tunes up loud. Bliss.
-
I spent my youth going to to many clubs and Raves (remember them) and my walkman always went with me. I to have tinnitus. I'm resigned to needing hearing aids later(ish) in life however I still do crank it up but not to the levels I use to. I try for quality over quantity now even if my hearing isn't the best. I still love my tunes though.

All depends on what & where for me.
I'll play music at a moderate level in the car if the grandkids are with us, but if I'm on my own then I prefer to hear the engine/road noise.
Home is a different matter, and the decibel level is dictated by the genre (Reggae/Ska sees the subs warming the living room up and rearranging the furniture nicely :D )
-
you got to play iron maiden loud anyway if its loud you can hear the wife nag so its good for me rock on ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have a T shirt which reads.....

Quite simply yes! And yes I get called a chav. I changed all my audio in the elite i have two sets of Alpine SXE-1750S 17cm component speakers and 2 Alpine type S subwoofers all amped up with a JVC headunit (I dont like the functionality of the Alpine ones) It's like a nightclub :)

depends on the kind of music and mood..
long years ago when I was young (around 20) I had hand built amplifiers and speakers (I built them and their crossovers-they were huge)..
the bass sound was shaking the apartment , and obviously neighbours didnt like metallica and the likes.. :(
when I moved (married-first time )I was forced not to use them. the new home had walls which were too tiny and even a fart can pass 2 blocks ;D and I was fed up police knocking the door frequently (20 years ago) :(
anyway, my ex wife take the whole set (was really an expensive one) and it took years for me to bring it together.. and its all gone.. :'( looking on the bright side one problem solved with neighbours :-\
now generally I use my sony earphones .. the miniset kenwood (which I bought later) is just a fraction of what I had in the past.. but I dont bother buying stronger ones..
now rarely I open the volume (only in day time) and even this can be heard from the end of street ??? ;D
also age changes your music preferences.. and some styles really not suitable for high volumes..
other than that , I dont like high volumes in car also as I cant hear the engine noise..

If it's something cool like Metallica, then fine. If it's drum 'n' base then you need to listen to that shite in a sound proof room.
These days though I prefer a bit of Dire Straits @ meduim volume :y

I do like the "wobbly" feeling that a solid bassline produces on the body, although by all accounts it's not actually that good for you.
I used to have a pair of Paradigm PS1000's (http://www.paradigm.com/products/archives/paradigm/ps-series/ps-1000) in the living room that produced what can only be described as "house destroying bass" (IIRC I gave Kevin Wood a demo when he was over).
They shifted enough air that you could feel your eyelashes fluttering if you sat in the right spot and played the right tunes (mainly 80's dancehall reggae from the likes of Saxon, King Tubby, etc), and I could induce physical vomiting in our neighbour when he sat down for a go (although I suspect he was overly sensitive to low frequencies because nobody else suffered to that degree).
I regret getting rid of them now because I haven't found anything that can match their performance for the price I paid (£600 each), and they are no longer available in the UK to buy new :(

Suprised you don't end up with bruised kidneys with them buggers :o

The only time I was in danger of physical injury was if I cranked them up while the missus was in ;D
