Title: Lightscribe comp problem
Post by: Varche on 15 March 2012, 13:49:30
I have just got a new but S/H PC. It has SATA drives and the Lightscribe DVD Rw drive doesn't like any of my bought CDs with programmes on. I have had a look inside and it has a power connection (the CD/DVD can be ejected by clicking on the command) BUT it won't open any to view files or auto play anything. It has a SATA lead connected to the motherboard from the drive and the drive is shown as working properly in System.

Any pointers gratefully received!

Sound faulty. Lightscribe is not relevant in this if it won't read dvds

+1 for the above diagnosis.

Any SATA drive will do as a replacement, and I wouldn't worry too much about having Lightscribe capability because (a) it's pants, and (b) the Lightscribe blanks are way overpriced IMO.
