£65 for a 10Kg fibreglass bottle at Homebase, you can probably get the steel bottles cheaper elsewhere (but the glass ones are so much lighter to move around!) - http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=115611

I prefer charcoal but for convenience its gotta be gas,I mean once lit cooking can commence as soon as all slugs are burnt :D :D :y

Charcoal is no hassle.. Just need one of these..

.. And the last gas cylinder I bought was about £30 for 15kg butane, IIRC.
I hasten to add I didn't buy it for the barbecue but for filling my camping gaz cylinder. :-X

Proper home built is what you want.
All parts sourced from REME and been outside 24/7/365 for the last 5 years :y

the easiest way to bbq is the coal in a bag full of lighter fuel (u know what i mean lol). light it and it sorts itself out

even charcoal fire must be slow , otherwise you will be eating organic coal ;D
-
I recommend you try this method (patience required) :y
meat, milk butter, salt, onions, tomato, garlic, and some veggies you llke.. you need to wait 1.5-2 hours depending on the coal fire

ps: forget the language just watch..

I have a charcoal one and a gas one. Without doubt, charcoal is by far the best for flavour by a country mile. Gas one is more "on and off-able"
Carb cleaner works for lighting charcoal, if firelighters fail, but proceed with caution!!
-
I fire some wood sticks (very tiny) than use bigger woods than add charcoal slowly and increase the fire.. :y
