Title: what shouls I use?
Post by: bighed on 30 March 2008, 06:34:55
When I replace my crank cover gaskets  :'( I know to use gm stuff but I want to do my spark plugs/leads, oil and filter and coolant at the same time. Will gm stuff be best or is there other brands that are better??  :-/ Also what grade oil should I use and how much can I expect to pay for above parts?? I know the gasket set and all bits involved Come to around £70.

Sorry for wafflin on but when I get my ABS card can this be used for discount at any Vauxhall garage as my local one is run by Evans Halshaw.

Cheers. Jon.... :) :y

HT leads are like £200+ from Vx and that's trade....
Buy a Bosch set off Ebay for around £35.

Oil 10W40 Vx Semi - extremely good value with a TC. I always buy 20 litres for about £25+VAT. With TC there's almost always a buy 3 get one free off on oil.
Vx coolant is good stuff and OK value, about £10 for 5litres.
Genuine spark plugs are excellent and about £3 each.
TC oil filters are cheap, like £1.

Air and pollen filters add something like £10-£15 each.

It should be possible to use it at any trade club dealer.
