Hi guys thinking of buying
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=817603&categoryId=165660&langId=-1
To increase air flow sound abit beefer and hopefully increase BPH now is there any point or will I screw somthing else up if I fit it now I realise if I drill a hole in the bottom of the air box I will increase noise and air flow but I just wanted some ideas on both
:D :D :y

It wont increase airflow, but it will allow warm rather than cool air into the engine and therefore reduce power. If its the type of filter which needs oiling it will kill the MAF sensor. If it doesnt need oiling it wont filter effectively and therefore increase internal wear in the engine.
In summary - apart from a nice induction roar, they are a complete waste of time & money on an Omega. Its very difficult to improve on the standard setup on the omega.Best thing to do is use genuine Vauxhall air filter elements rather than Halfords or other aftermarket types. :y
P.S Imo, drilling a hole in the bottom of the airbox will allow the incoming cool air to escape, rather than being fed into the engine. ;)

Vx spent tens of thousands in R&D, so one would reasonably expect they got the air filtration right on the first go ;)
If you really want to see extra horses, it's gonna cost you slightly more than £2 worth of filter that is being sold for £19.99 by Halfrauds which will more than likely reduce the power output once fitted.

nothing to be gained from fitting one,and if you did you may find your fuel consumption will increase ;).plus you will be £20 pound lighter in your wallet for no gain apart from induction roar, which if its an auto it does not sound too special unless in sport mode :y

It will make the induction roar which is a novelty, but thats about it. Like everyone has said it wont do anything to improve performance.
If its performance you want best buy a different car mate as the Omega will never be a sports car and was never ment to be one being fair.
What it is however is a very comfortable luxury car that will sit on the motorway at break neck speed with literally no sense of speed.
Hope that makes sense

if your just looking for a sportyer sound if you take out airbox & cut 5x25mm holes along the wing edge side of filter box you will get a slight roar but drill below the filter eliment it will also help draw in the cold air in from around headlight area & fuel economy should be the same, oh that filter from the wholesalers is £4.60 so its £15.39 overpriced & yes they are as said shite, draw hot air in & give you less power!! unless fitted into a cold air ram system like the pipercross system but £pricy! but if it ent broke dont mess with it...
Performance Vauxhall Developments (PVD)/K&N do a panel filter that is a good direct replacement for about £45 on ebay... ive got one on mine mpg is slightly better, slight roar & you can wash it out when ever you want...
(Good for me as most places i go are very dusty & had to knock out paper filter every week due to the amount of dust the V6 can suck in!!!) good in 1 way when it rains keeps dust down!
