Please forgive if this is a daft Q, but how do you do that?
I can understand pressing the brake and theengine will still turn the rear wheels but this must wreck the back brakes. :(
And or do those that do this a lot have a spererate front wheel only brake?? :-[ :-[

You can fit a device called a line-lock to the front brakes. Effectively just a valve that allows you to hold the fluid pressure in front brakes only. Not that I'm into such activities but I did witness an amusing burn-out competition at Le Mans where various exotica (with clueless drivers) attempted to do the same and failed due to too much grip or even just a failure to turn off the TC.
Then.. along came some likely lads in a beaten up "B" reg Fraud Sierra with the rear window fabricated from some attractive polythene.
Anyway, they had made 3 modifications to this vehicle from what I could see:
Fit the cheapest, hardest tyres they could find.
Fit a line lock
Fit a V8.
Needless to say, once the laughter had died down they left rubber for about 1/2 the length of the Mulsanne straight and left egg on a few faces too. ;D

Thanks for that Kevin, story about the Ford, make sense, I like the idea of 'sleepers' always have, even from young. Best I ever did was a V6 into a Cortina Mk2, standard back axle and gear box, that could leave rubber. One day will do something. ;D ;D ;D

Back in the 60s stuffed a 3.8s Jag engine & box into a 105e Anglia - had to fit lotus cortina ˝ shafts as it bust the std ones first try out. Top speed around ton due to anglia back axle but bl**dy fast getting there! Wonder where it is now!!

Fun to drive - steer it on the throttle. Could do a set of rear tyres in 250 miles!

Once had an old ford corsair 2.0 V4, swapped it out for the 3.0 Essex V6.
looked like a piece of lime green snot.... but was bastard quick.... ate clutches though.,... :D

Speaking of crazy conversions I was thumbing through Practical Performance Car in the newsagents this lunch time and saw an article where someone had put a BMW Tractor lump from an Omega into a Reliant Scimitar. :-/

Been posted up before, one of our european friends I think?
-
He clearly didn't speak to TheBoy first. ;D
Bit of a shame has he had the carve the car up a bit to get it in there. Why, oh, why didn't he put a 3.2 V6 into it? :-/

Why can't I do that with my car?
(the wheelspin, not the alloys).

Reckon I could do it in my auto in today's weather as long as I pointed the front end into wind. :o
Just been up to work on the glider trailer. All I could do to stop me tools blowing away. Then it started to p*ss down. No flying today. :(
