Title: The beast roars once more
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 19 March 2012, 14:22:52
Gearbox swap finished on the MV6. I've hurt my hand a bit, but managed to hold a pipe in the gearbox and fill it with nice new ATF, which was the last job left to do.

I'm pleased to report that the new AR35 is as smooth as silk, you cannot feel it changing up and down the gears, aside of watching the rev counter.

Oh, and there was definitely something in the old box, sapping the power. It is now seriously quick...  8)

It's nice to have her back :y

Good stuff James. :y

Cheers Guys... :y

Must say, I'm pleased for now, that I kept it original / Auto...

The only thing I will say, it's not as 'relaxing' to drive, as the lazy TD...  as I'm constantly battling to keep the speed down  :D

When I bought the MV6 just over a year ago, shortly afterwards, there was a whine from the gearbox at idle, and I always thought it felt "flat" after that. At times I thought it was better, but I knew, in my head, it just wasn't ever as quick off the mark, as the day I picked it up...

Well now, with the new AR35 on, it is definitely the same as the day I bought it. I am experiencing something now, which I only experienced in the first few days of ownership... and this is when going over bumps, it's hard not to rapidly increase speed, as the lightest throttle touch makes it want to take off..  ;D

It's now as a 3.2 MV6 should be.... every time I go out in her on the open road, I am grinning from ear to ear  8) :y

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to chat and offer suggestions to the original pesky problem, which has pretty much taken a year to nail!  :y
