Title: What does O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1) mean?
Post by: maker on 20 March 2012, 21:24:14
I have a 2002 Omega 2.2i petrol. I get a fault code for O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1) which implies there might also be a "Bank 1 sensor 2" and even a "Bank 2 sensor 1".

Can someone explain how many sensors there are and where would find one. I can see one on the exhaust after the cat, but is that a bank?, a sensor? which one?

V6 has two banks, #1 = driver`s side, # 2 = passenger side. V6 non DBW have 2 lambdas, DBW has 4. Your desmond being DBW has 2 on bank 1 (not a V engine). Sensor 2 is what you have seen after the cat, sensor 1 is pre-cat as in this pic

Thanks but I do not understand what you mean by "desmond" and what does DBW mean?

I think you are saying I have two sensors with sensor 2 after the cat?
