Post by: martin42 on 20 March 2012, 21:56:46
driving back from the gf's in northampton, over took a lorry and engine went into limp mode, missing like hell, got her home into the garage, turned her of,fired up again and no miss fire, checked back box and the hair had blocked up exit pipe,so new back box need  >:(
would this cause the missfire as i was using kickdown just before this happened...

Not a misfire, rather a lack of power

Restricted flow of exhaust gas by the "horse hair" will cause a significant back pressure at the cylinders, so giving a mixture of fresh air + fuel as well as the "old" cylinder charge that is now "exhaust" gas.. containing little oxygen..... thus a marked reduction in power ... this would be worse under "kick down" as you are requesting maximum power ...

HTH  :)
