Hi all, this ones got me stumped :-\ Over the last couple of week my Omega has developed a noise coming from the front offside wheel.
The best way I can describe the noise is a low volume tyre squeal, it is a constant noise that increases and decreases, it also speed up as road speed is increased.
The noise lessens on right hand turning and increases on left hand turning. There appears to be no noise when reversing, the noise is still present when braking.
I have checked the wheel bearing for play and there doesn't appear to be any also when rotated the wheel runs smoothly with no sign of bearing rumble.
The car has not been kerbed the wheel runs true and there is no sign of abnormal tyre wear, also there is no evidence of anything rubbing or catching, other than a slight rubbing of the break pads on the disc. I backed the pads off and road tested it without touching the brakes and the noise was still present.
Can anyone help? this one has really got me scratching my head
TIA
Tony

have you had a look at the driveshafts is it manual or auto engine size

maybe your disc guard is touching disc when turning-pull bottom edge out a bit :y
-
Check toe setting. ...?

Did you check fully for bearing play i.e. see what play is there at 12/6 and 3/9 positions then recheck with the leggy blonde flashing substantial thigh whilst stilletto pressing firmly on the brake pedal? If play vanishes whilst pedal is depressed then either its bearing play or your hands are otherwise occupied..... :-[ ;D

extra had patch on the brake pad, or stone traped in the pad?

It's bearing noise IMO ;) As H21 said, did you check properly?
Oh... And I've encountered bearings on the way out that only sound under load (although not on an Omega) ;)
