Title: help needed please
Post by: brian36 on 21 March 2012, 16:44:07
hello to all!
three wee problems i need help with, hope wee anyway!
1. had recent oil change at local garage ,a few days have gone by but have noticed some cream on filler pipe and cap, none in expansion tank and none on oil dipstick.
2. last couple days temperature needle takes its time, car heats up etc heat in blowers but expansion tank mid to low when cold but after running short time almost at top and bubbling, hoses very hot top and bottom.
3. central locking, i assume i need door solenoid(drivers) as past posts similar i think. you can use remote to unlock all doors excepty drivers, deadlock works, but drivers door until today only operate by key and pop up button sticking sometimes but today after locking car went to get something and now drivers door wouldn't open at all.
eventually got drivers door open hold key to right after click and lift handle, door pin still stuck down.
so any help much appreciated firstly i guess need drivers door solenoid,so if any members have one can you drop me a line.just to say its a facelift 2.6 mv6.
thanks to all! :)
oh and if there's any members in or around fife that know how to rectify my probs drop me a line ok ,cheers :y

1   quite normal for a bit of mayo on filler neck.usually short journeys and cheap oil, suggest using gm 10/40 semi synthetic. ;)

2   thermostat may be lazy or stuck open imho  :y

3  sorry cant help you with this one but im sure one will be along soon who can.

so just been out again,
no water in pax footwell, heaters seems to be fine all hoses seem fine squeezed all i can see,top and bottom hose causing burping so guess they ok
did notice one thing out of place and not being mechanical will try describe.
it if facing car at rear of plenum on right side right up against back at top righ corner its a multi plug with a metal clip and looks like maybe 2 thin wires from, this is broken, that is it is loose and the bit thatr should be attached to engine is not its half joined on to wire section, it is exposed and you can see what looks like 2 terminals and a don't know what you call them micro something, hope someone can figure out what i mean
thanks

If you have time tomorrow (thursd) then pop up sometime after, say, 7 and we can see whats what and try to get things squared away.  Been upto my elbows with work and stuff the past while so not too much in the way of free time until late of an evening...

morning all!
big favour here,
is there any members that can do a few wee jobs on my car?
at present need,
brakes done, have replacements for seized caliper on front and ? rear (from steve at omegaparts)
also have new discs/pads for front, rear pads.
need coolant system redone,
spark plug changed i reckon,
need rear multi-ram plug changed as broken.
some of these maybe very eays to some of you but when it comes to the car i ain't got a scooby.
so if anyone around fife area that knows these cars drop me a line
