SWMBO's friend has just put a deposit on a used 07 Fiesta 1.25 style with 40 k, guy mentioned it had had a bump on the wing and is a insurance category d repaired, Price she is paying is £3300 and from the pics I have seen it looks good. Checked on Parkers and it looks to be worth £3500 max as private good but the guy is a home trader. I know that cat d's can be ok but are worth 25% less but the guy didn't mention this exactly. I can't find one the same for less than 4 grand at a dealer.
Question is do I let sleeping dogs lie as she seems over the moon with it or stick the boot in that she should get at least a couple of hundred off it?

I struggle to help people with cars, even when they've asked for advice and you give them that advice, they still ignore you. As others have said, if she's happy, let her go along with it :y

Women should not be allowed to buy cars...... After days of searching swmbo chose a new, to us, car and then a little over a week later said she hated it...... :o ::) ::) ::) She said it was it was the first time that she had chosen a new car... ::) ::) has had my hand me downs over the last 13 years and has never complained, I thought I was being nice letting her choose.... ::) ::) either way she is back in a Mig and is happy again...... :D :D :D

Last time wifey was let loose to buy a car she brought a new smart car becuase she liked the red interior :o :o :D took just over a month for her to admit it drove like a pile of shite so up for sale it went, thankfully she got it on the scrapage scheme but will still lost a few hundred quid despite the 2k allowance :'( :'(

Would you tell any prospective buyer what the car (or whatever it is you are selling) is worth in real life?
He was honest enough to declare it was cat D, but if it's been repaired properly and she is happy then let it be.
