Much speculation by banks pushing price up at the moment, with cheap money from QE and LTRO, at some point there will be a correction and prices per barrel will drop.

There has been a slight drop this week where China's economy is slowing down.

I will let you guess on the effect this will have on UK prices.

i can never get over the fact that most larger  vans now cost in excess of £100 to fill up mines about £120 ker ching. in the good old days i used to run 4 vans to London every day  i would dread to think what that would cost now and of course theres congestion charges etc etc and people ask me why i dont work in London anymore just worked it out £180 per day over a £1k a week :o :o on fuel alone

Just checked up and the highest price for petrol at the min is £149.9  :(
Seems it will be hitting £1.50 sooner than we thought , now where's that manual about running a car on cow dung .

The way its going, within a couple of years the average family will not be able to drive a car like we do on a regular basis  >:(

Nearly 7 quid a gallon on a car that does 25 to the gallon is imposible to justify.
Then you stick 200 od quid stealth  road tax then just to finish it off, we have the great insurance swindle  >:( >:(

Thats why (with my last wage packet) I converted mine to lpg.

See it on here where people are weighing up the options between breaking there cars up for money / spares or selling them on.
Soon, imho they won't be many people owning then to sell your bits too  :(

Get used to it... because even if oil drops to $20 a barrel and the pound became strong again they wouldn't let prices drop because of the duty and VAT they take!!!  >:( >:( >:(

Looks like we have lived through the best times for the UK and it is all going to be downhill from now on.  :o :o :o >:( >:( >:( >:(

I can't see a Mrs T in the wings, to recover the country through low taxes and enterprise. Profit has become a dirty word again like it was in the 1970's. Things will have to get much worse than now, like the 1970's 3 day weeks, rubbish in the streets, IMF loans etc., before there will be a strong politician with vision, ie a leader, to sort the mess out.

Mind you it might happen from 2015 onwards, when we have 3 day weeks again, where under EU law all dirty power stations much be closed and with the delay of the new nuclear there is going to be a massif energy gap. How are all those electric cars going to be charged?  ::) ::) ::)

Replace 'UK' with 'western world' and I think you'd be more accurate.

Since someone mentioned road tax - one of the things the government is talking about is taking VED in 12 monthly instalments by direct debit to make things 'easier' on us. Pfft, the only reason they're doing that is because they know we'll then feel warm and fuzzy that it's "only" £21 a month instead of a £250 lump. Then they can slowly jack it up, because really how much different is £25/mo? Oh it's "only" £4 more .. except that's really a nice extra £50 a year and suddenly VED is £300 instead of £250...

Reading today's paper, there's a garage in Chelsea, Texaco, Petrol is £1.74.9 and diesel is £1.79.9, the owners of the garage is a multi millionaire and he finds the Conservatives! Disgusting! Apparently is bordering on the highest price on the planet!

Hmm now thats high , maybe its going to go above £2.00 . Once people cant afford to run the car they will lose the duty and then slap it on something else ...you cant win  ::)

The price can fall.  In 2008 that petrol station in the Google pic may have been showing around £1.20 for petrol and £1.30 for diesel.
