Turned on computer with Vista platform and ""The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded". I have googled solutions but even with Norton disabled cannot get a previous good restore point to be successfully restored. Just get "restore was unsuccessful". Looks like a PITA mess around with registry when I have time.
Luckily I did create another Administrator User on system some time ago which means I am up and running under another username - but all my stuff is under the original username of course. S**t.

Try changing permissions under hard drive properties.
Or worse case pop the drive out and hook it on another PC, take ownership and pull off what data you need.

Or turn the thing off.
Turn phone off and go home and crack open a beer :y

Administrator should have access to everything...no?
-
Yes but all your contacts, favourites etc are under the corrupt user name - you have to transfer everything (apart from user.dat and related files) to new user ( using an administrator who is neither original user nor new user created to receive files). I am still weighing up whether to transfer everything - about 130 gb.

+1 :D

Delete Norton & get a proper AV that doesn't ask you questions everytime you do anything & use all your system resources!!
-
I am moving things reasonably successfully from corrupt user to new user - Norton has never really been a problem for me over many years so will stick with it.

Try NOD32, see how much better your system performs, I was stunned

Best I've used in relation to ease of use and runs so seemlessly compared to the Norton/AVG's I've had in the past.
