Hi all,It's here again the start of the yearly bills, just got home from a great weekend away in the van only to find the council tax demand for next year waiting on the mat,up 5%.
Next letter A4 size stamp 44p was a leaflet from the council telling us what colour bags on what days to use for recycling.I worked it out that if 1 house postage was 44p then 10 would cost £4.40p,there's 50 houses in my street so that cost £22.00,multiply that by all the homes in the borough, plus the cost of the stationary, surely there's a cheaper way to do this and save costs.
I think a call to my counciller will happen some time today,is your council so good at spending YOUR money.
Alfie.

Likely different printers, thus posted from different places ;)

'course, if the council had a network of employees who regularly visited the houses in the borough on some sort of rota, perhaps to collect something, they could have saved the postage and get them to put the note through the door... No, better not. It would only get the unions upset. ::)

Legalised scroungers, that's all local councils are. Their petty beuarocratic nonsense just inhibits private enterprise, but they're that thick and full of themselves they don't realise that's where their wages come from.
Oh we're a bit short this year, oh well just put council tax up 5%, much higher than inflation, and even though people who work and don't sit on their high and mighty arses all day in an air cOnditioned office are taking pay cuts.
The deadwood needs to be cut out.

That's what they do round here - the timetables for collection, notices about WEEE collections and so on all get hung on the hinge of the bin..
Though they did post their demand for an extra £34 for the privilege of having my brown (garden waste) bin emptied.. ::)

My council don't take WEEE.. Well, apart from the annual Council Tax bill. That certainly does... ;D

Mine don't normally either - but there was a leaflet recently informing everyone that we could (on a specific day) take all our WEEE to the local sports centre for recycling.
I've no idea why that was meant to be more convenient than taking it all to the local tip and sticking it in their electrical bin, given the tip isn't exactly a long way away ???

Don't get me started on the inneficiances of local authorities. I live in a flat and have to bin bag my rubbish, the rest of the street in on wheelie bins the wagon that emptys the bins drives straight past the flats bin bags, then the council sends out a wagon especially to pick up the bags. >:(
If local authorities had to run as normal businesses alot of them would have gone t*ts up years ago

Ah, right. In the swimming pool. I do that on Tuesday evenings. :-X

You don't get the bloke in the high-vis jacket scowling at you and asking if it's "trade waste"? OK, I recycle more WEEE than is believable sometimes.. and often turn up with a 20L container of old oil, too. ::)

What the hell is WEEE?
