Its all reliant on the angle of the dangle.
Just make sure you jump off straight and true!! ;D

Personally, I would prefer the gradual loading of a known rope load after a frekkin fast run into the great blue yonder and its stretch range versus the shock load of a pile of knicker elastic and its proximity to the jaggy rocks below...... ;D

I think the term you're looking for is a cagoule of tomato puree. ;)
