I'm sure this has been talked about before but i couldn't find any conclusive answers. So will it fit? I've had a quick look at some photos of Omega diffs and so far I've worked out the cover would need swapping. Are the mounting holes in the right place on the sub frame? Would I need to do some mods to the prop. Just got me thinking. I've got a excellent Carlton LSD in storage at the mo. In fact I have the diff, prop, driveshafts and a choice of sub frames from a Gsi Carlie or even a LC (if there different not sure) I don't really want to strip mine out just to find it doesn't fit. So if anybody's done some research on this already.....
See I can't leave fek all alone can I? Got to fiddle. I've even started wondering if the spare GSi manual gearbox I've got will fit the V6. Somebody stop me for Gaud sake :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

why not just swap LSD over from carlton to omega dif??
have search for bloke call 2woody on here hi done lots swap like that :y

Why not swap internals over - 'cos its really expensive. ( approximately the price of a decent-condition Omega )
...... and regarding fitting the diff as a whole, you can't. Whilst Omega B has the "same" diff, it is remotely mounted to the subframe, which means that the diff casing is a different casting.
It is possible, but you have to build a modified subframe, welding the rear mounting arms that you've chopped off an Omega B subframe onto an Omega A subframe and then changing the donuts, plus of course putting up with a directly-mounted diff.

Hi, I got word of a back axle of a carlton with an lsd for sale, i just searched and found this topic here, i think il chance this conversion.. not afraid of the welder, ;)
would there be any pictures floating around of it done before?? the donuts referenced would be the big rubbers to the front of the rear subframe? why have these to be changed.. im not familiar with the carlton back end.
thanks for any help.. any tips on what too look out for when going to buy the carlton back end,. ??
