I hope someone of you geniuses can help with this. My brother has a focus and it keeps cutting out. The symptoms are as follows:-
The speedo stops registering a speed,
The digital miles stop clocking up
The car cuts out when the car is slowing/as the clutch is depressed
It has recently had a new fuel filter fitted (he was told this was the problem)
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as i'm not too good on Fords.
Forgot to mention i'm up North in Lincoln.
Thanks in advance Jack

Can't say I know much about them but engine size and fuel type may help with diagnosis :y

The speed drive sensor is part of the engine management system and if it has failed it will cause the symptoms you are getting :y
-
also check clutch switch is still in place above clutch pedal and check icv aswell,as its the ib5 gear box the speed sensor on the gearbox can fail and can be a pita to replace.

+1 :y Faulty speedo's on that age of Focus are fairly common. Usually either the dash itself (£110 from ford) or the speedo drive in the gearbox. Good luck fella :y

Had a look and the clutch pedal thing is there but i did notice on a test drive that as i drive along all is well but when i slow for a roundabout etc the car will stall, not all the time, however if i just brake it doesn'#t appear to do so. I have ordered a clutch pedal thingy mentioned above (a £5 on e-bay). I will let you all know if it works. I also check the ICV and the car idles perfectly so don't think it's that.

also check the connections on the powersteering pressure switch,it may look ok but need to check it carefully,if the connections break it can cause stalling effect,a known problem on the fiesta and puma
