Title: Front Caravan Panel - Advice On Restoring Flat Paint On GRP
Post by: sticka_v8_init on 03 April 2012, 17:07:05
Hiya fellas,

As per title really, looking for advice on what products to use in order to get the front GRP panel on my 2004 Bailey noce & shiney again. Its totally flat at the moment.

Ideally need to know the right paint restorer or polish. I'm guessing that car paint restorer or any form of T-Cut is a big no no, but its only a guess.

The rest of the van looks good, its just the front that lets it down.

Cheers in advance for any advice and help :y

Am waiting for the gags/petrol advice ;D

I would try T-cut on a small part and check out the result - its not a particularly aggressive cutting compound.

I noticed that our van is doing the same thing,I tried a bit of T cut but think something more aggressive  may be better

MORE!!! Think were getting close to the petrol jokes  ;D

Antone tried this stuff... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T-Cut-UPVC-Restorer-Cleaner-Window-Frames-Doors-Caravans-All-Plastic-Items-/270943947980?_trksid=p3286.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7463182199061508094

If painting is needed GRP can be successfully repainted using the  two pack paint system. A few people who own boats around here have used it one there hulls.

Thats probably less aggressive that "normal" T-cut

If you need something more aggressive try a cutting compound (but don't rub too hard  ::) ) - recommend this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FARECLA-G3-REGULAR-PASTE-COMPOUND-400G-/251031979109?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item3a72ac0465 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FARECLA-G3-REGULAR-PASTE-COMPOUND-400G-/251031979109?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item3a72ac0465)

Still say try T-cut on yours first ;)

The front panel on our 'van is showing signs of "crazing" (if that's a real description) - looks like it's cracking but isn't. Any ideas for that ?

Cheers for the advice fellas - T-Cut it is then. Will give it a go tomorrow :y

I'd try Autoglym Super Resin polish on that "crazing" fella - it acts a bit like a fine filler so may take a couple of goes.

You need to set fire to it. It's the only cure. :y

There had to be 1 arsonist when it came to caravans. ;D ;D Try it fella, you may like it ::)

Got mine sorted. Went for the 3 stage Meguirs option i use on my cars. Paint restorer then polish then carnuba wax - looks rather stunning :y Just didn't realise how much my wank working arm would ache after  :D
