I have had this quad core Advent for 4 years but it is grinding to a halt with all the crap I have on it.
May get a new one and go back to HP - bit out of touch with dual, quad core etc but from pricing point of view 8gb ram, 1TB Hard drive and core i5 seems ok from websites of the usual suspects (Pcworld, Comet). No gaming required but photos, videos and music basically.
Any thoughts on HP vs Fujitsu, Acer etc?

I am just about to build my own. All the parts have arrived (from eBuyer.com) and, over the next few days weeks, I'll put it together and load all my software.
This is what I have in kit form next to me:
Corsair Carbide 500R (Case)
Corsair 240GB Force 3 SSD SATA III (SSD)
AMD Llano A8-3850 2.90GHz Socket FM1 4MB L2 Cache + 8GB RAM (Processor & memory)
Gigabyte GA-A75-D3H A75 Socket FM1 VGA DVI HDMI onboard 7.1 Channel Audio ATX (Motherboard)
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo Socket FM1 (Processor Cooler)
Arctic Power 700W PSU - 4x SATA 1x PCI-Express (PSU)
LiteOn IHOS104 4x BD-ROM SATA Blu-Ray Drive - OEM Black (Optical drive)
+ keyboard & mouse
All that comes to just over £500.
I have a 1TB HDD in stock for data and will use my existing monitor.
I did a fair bit of research before identifying each item (reading customer reviews/ Computer Shopper etc.) and I think it should be a very, very good system. :o
Going the AMD route, I also have the option of getting a Radeon video card later on and utilising the Crossfire system to practically double the video power. :y
Dead easy to build your own! :y :y

Are you building a gaming machine Nickbat?

No, but I use my PC for work and that involves a great deal of graphics applications (Adobe Design Suite). The SSD will make the programs load super fast and the 8GB RAm will enable me to have several programs open simultaneously. Also, I want to use it as a server for the household. My daughter will need computing power come September when she goes to secondary school, andI also intend to use it to stream media. Mind you, I do play with my Flight Simulator occasionally. ;)

That's not a bad price, especially considering the SSD, didn't realise they've got so cheap......mind if I ask how much the drive was?
