Title: Cruise enabled....for a tenner!
Post by: mijfife on 25 October 2006, 18:17:57
Yep, that's all it cost me to get my GLS set up with Cruise control. I (ahem) aquired the control box from the donor car that gave up it's engine and bought the stalk & brake light switch for a fiver. I was in a breakers today looking for a space saver spare wheel and saw the remains of an Elite with the cable attached! Bought that for a fiver too.  :) Took about 15 minutes when I got home to fit it and I'm pleased to say it works  :)  The cable from the Elite was shorter than my own one but that actually worked in my favour as my LPG vaporiser sits where the control should go. I've just mounted it next to the brake resivior and it fits fine.
I do like a bargain  ;D

Cheers Jim

LOL Yeah I know, but I take the motor to France and it would certainly come in useful then!

Fortunately our motorways are a bit quieter up here, especially at night. I'm reckoning on getting good use from it on the way to Birmingham this Saturday - we're leaving at 3am to drive to the Classic motorshow so even the M6 should be quiet at that time  :)

Cheers Jim

Wouldn't count on it, hitting Birmingham  around 7 / 8 am i guess? Junctions 11 to 8 are a nightmare at the moment and 6 to 4A ...er... roadworks  :-[
