....isnt well :(
She was fine yesterday lunchtime.....but when i got home yesterday evening she definately wasnt feeling well.....upset stomach....i wont go into detail...
I starved her last night.....this morning she wont eat.....and all all she wants to do is lie outside in the cold looking sorry for herself.....so im guessing shes got a temperature as well. :(
Vets open at 8.30am, according to their website, but no mention of Easter opening hours.... so see if i can get her appointment today....
-
Sorry the hear that, hope all goes well Dave, and Holly has a speedy recovery.

Get well soon Holly Dog!
Same as Molly Dog last week, however SWMBO was 'resting' on the couch (after a 0600hrs start) and ignored her cries for attention. When SWMBO woke, she was confronted by the world's worst stench ............ Molly had done it in a dinner plate that was on the floor!! :o :o :o :o :o I thought that was quite clever really. ::)
Yes! The plate went in the bin ................... everyone asks that! ;D ;D ;D

Hope all goes well for Holly :y continue to starve for a total of 24 hours and then a light diet of chicken & boiled rice, then gradually introduce normal food. But I'm sure your vet will give good advice. Also may be a small foreign body.
-
Not good when ur dogs not well cuz
It makes u feel bad hope everything goes

Get well soon Holly. Does the vet have an Emergency number? :-\

Speedy recovery, Holly, you need to be well for the summer meets, as the official OOF
hoover dog :)
-
Yes, hope HD is back to normal soon. :-* :-* :y
-
get well soon holly.........bet she would eat one of Bobs sausages
-
Back from the vets....
Vet couldnt find much wrong with her.....
So she got an injection to make her feel hungry.....and i was given some paste to put on her food to settle her stomach.
Rice and eggs for her meals for the next couple of days.....i'd better go and buy some plain rice....dont think Uncle Bens spicy rice is the thing to give her ;D
-
Well its reassuring news... :y
-
Glad to hear she's not showing any big symptoms other than the obvious....
Get well soon Holly from both of us :y :y

Woofers. They poo all over the place, get fleas leave fur all round the house demand to be taken out in all weathers. Cost loads when they get sick. Tie you down if you want to go away and can't take them with you and can be a right arse as well
They also love you unconditionally for who you are. In their eyes you can never do wrong. They trust you with their lives and will protect you no matter what the odds.
and that's why I have two
Chin up Holly :y :y

Best wishes to Holly for a speedy recovery from the Seths, Dave ;)

and will protect you no matter what the odds.
Except Holly. If there is the smell of cooking sausages around a camp fire, she cares not what/where Taxi Driver is ;D
After all, she is a Lab ;D
-
Glad its not serious, still scary all the same :)
-
Thanks for the get well messages, Hollydog will appreciate them :y
Tho the injection she had to get her appetite back, hasnt seemed to have kicked in yet.....ive just chucked a beef casserole in the oven and usually the smell of preparing food brings her into the kitchen.....shes still lying against a radiator in the dining room.....been there all afternoon......
-
loss of appetite is not a bad thing for a couple of days ;) ,its the drinking of water you need to keep an eye on (dehydration) :y

Any update on Holly ???
Still not interested in food this morning, tho she is drinking water, so im not overly concerned.
The vet gave me a tube (in a giant syringe type container) of what looks like liquid chocolate, that im suppose to squirt 5ml over her food. (Its suppose to settle her stomach )
So as shes not eating, ive resorted to squirting this stuff into her mouth (It must taste ok becasue even tho not shes not impressed, shes doesnt spit it out)

I think all dogs go through this.
Our little Shi-Tzu, Mitzzi, will go a couple of days without eating anything, then all of a sudden she'll wolf her food down. Sometimes just lays around feeling sorry for herself. Much like us humans really.......
-
Sorry to read about Holly . Thought I would mention that friend of mine recently had similar with his staffy. Turned out to be a bit of rag stuck in his gut. Small op and £300 lighter back to normal.
Worth checking out as can become nasty. Hope Holly gets better soon

Hi Dave. I remember Holly. Just phoned Dad..(retired vet) who owns an elderly black lab dog. Firstly has Holly been spayed? I know it sounds a silly question for an older dog but if she has a womb infection this could be the answer. You say she's drinking water but is she drinking more than usual?
To tempt her to eat try tinned sardines in oil or ox tongue from a good butcher, only the sickest of dogs can resist these.
Tomorrow go to your local chemist & buy some Dio calm tablets & give her 1 tablet twice a day...break them up & sprinkle them on her ox tongue & sardines if she won't swallow the tablets. Has she been x rayed to find any intestinal blockages?
Dad says to let him know so he can help further if need be. Hopes with you both, Guy.

Get well Holly dog!
My border terrorist is being off his food since yesturday, and hes managed to cut his head on something, but can only tell now its healing. off to vets tomoz, hes still running around attacking anything possible and playin with the chicken tho.
-
Managed to get HollyDog eating agian :y
I decided her loafing about the house not having any exercise wasnt going to get her hungry.....so took her on a couple of gentle walks yesterday....
I also bought her some tinned dog food covered in gravy (her usual food is dry dog food)
She polished off 1/2 a tin of it last night and she's just had the other 1/2 just now
So i think shes on the mend now :y
@Guy Holly was spayed when she was a year old.
-
Great news Dave :y
-
I've always found that Holly responds well to good quality sausages. I'm sure the vet would say otherwise though ;D
-
Good news Dave don't over do the food though just build up the quantity gradually and makes lot of fresh water available
P.S Monty says WOOOF :y
-
Very pleased to hear Holly is on the up! :y
-
Evening Dave. Chuffed to hear Holly's perking up a bit bless her. Spoke to Dad again & he was equally as pleased. I told him Holly sent him a lick!!! Dad agrees with the dried food but with his elderly black lab (Beamish) as they get on in years he reccomends you try soaking the dried food in hot water, (sorry if you do already) before serving & then mix it with a third or half a tin of any tinned food Holly likes & agrees with her. This releases a nice foody smell as their appetite can decline with age.
Hope Holly does well if not Dad has said i can PM you his no. & you can speak to him directly. Guy. :y

Thanks for all your replies...
Holly seems now to be back to her normal self :y
Telling me when she wants to go for a walk and more importantly for her, telling me when she wants feeding ::) ;D
