Title: Ignition "fully off" after X hours?

Bit of an odd one - my Clarion radio is fitted via an ISO converter cable - and if its left for a few days it seems to forget the presets and display settings. If it's off for a few hours then back on, it's fine - is there a length of time after which everything switches completely off?

 Or, more likely, is something the police wiring has been spliced into, affected it?

There is a switched feed and a permanent feed to the head unit. The permanent feed never gets switched off.

The normal problem with aftermarket head units is that the car manufacturers disagree as to which pins in the ISO plug should be which. There will normally be a red and a yellow wire that can be easily swapped on the back of the head unit to correct this.

Edit... there is another feed from the instrument lighting circuit fed from the dimmer/rheostat below the main lighting switch.

More years ago than I care to remember, I had the same on my old Corsa... is the switched live on a time delay then?

On the rear of the head unit, the fuse has two positions - although yours is currently set in the correct position, it may be that your car doesn`t like it !!

Move the fuse to the other position (lower?) and then swap over the live and ignition wires in the ISO block.

I know that you should not have to do this, but I have known it to be effective in a few Vauxhalls that experience the same problems that you are having, so worth a try.

I think the fuse position you require will say "NORM" ?
