Any advice?
Booked a full days course at Xscape in Milton Keynes, going with some guys from work.
I have never been before.

Never tried it myself but after watching Mrs. KW's efforts (and she's done a winter season in Austria), roll up some newspaper and shove it down the back of your trousers. ;D
I took the view that I can ski competently. Why ruin half my skiing holiday going through the learning curve again?

I take a different approach.
Why go to a rather cold wet mountain and get shafted on the cost in the first place :y :y :y :y

Well, actually, if the mountain's in Milton Keynes, I'm inclined to agree.

Rather use a trail bike - less likely to fall off

Don't bother with europe - go to Canada -ay!
Might cost a bit more to get there but everything else is cheap - not doubled in price because you happen to be buying it at a ski resort.
The pistes are, IME, much better resourced and the queues at the lifts are polite. :-X

You would be better off (financially) on a beach in Ibiza and would stick a better chance of getting your leg over!

Perhaps. But turning up at this place (designed for the downhills during the Calgary winter Olympics) at 8 am and finding it deserted, a fresh dump of powder about a foot deep over half the resort and perfectly groomed pistes over the other half is better than sex anyway. :D

Not if i got to Slovenia.... flight is £50, car hire between 2 is £50 for a week, fuel around £30. Can stay with a friend out there, and lift passes for the Alps are 30EUR a day.
Less than 200 all in! Plus i am learning a skill, rather than litterally pissing my money up a wall ;)

mrs ilovemyelite used to be a snowboarding instructor... i can ask her for some tips if you want. she had to pack it in after multiple injuries to her knees ensured the doctor told her if she didn't give it up then another knock might stop her walking for good. she was about to turn pro as well :(

Ah, but the advantage of professionals is they don't say no. So I've heard.
