Agreed - at first I thought they were through the paint, but luckily the little shits are only weak...

I think the bottle laid artistically and carefully, just in shot on the floor what he used , i have similar scratches caused by the cats  >:(

;)

DAS-6 polisher, and the Meguiars microfibre DA system. Sounds poncy, but it works brilliantly. I've given the whole car a quick do with it, pics will be up tomorrow in the gallery. Weather permitting.

One of these - available with various makes stamped on the case, they're all much of a muchness - mine's a Dodo Juice Buff Daddy - http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/dodo-juice-buff-daddy-dual-action-polisher-and-free-pads.php (http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/dodo-juice-buff-daddy-dual-action-polisher-and-free-pads.php) - just to match everything else I bought at the same time.

Much, much better to use than the generic wool-bonneted buffer you find in Halfords. Practically idiot-proof, and does this -

Sign up on detailingworld.co.uk, once you get past the beards they're a decent lot, you might find someone local with a DA to do the job for a reasonable fee.

How long did that take to do that, and do you have the exact product name for the Meguiars compound you used? One thing I hate is swirl marks, especially on black cars.

To do the whole clit took about 10 hours, but that's a full detail, wheels-wash-clay-polish-polish-wax-wax-glass-trim-exhaust-interior. It depends on the level of swirling, I'd give a 7 series one and a half, maybe two 9hr days from start to finish to just do the paintwork from scratch (no pun intended).

I'd love a crack at machine polishing, but scared of doing more harm than good!
Maybe try to find someone local as suggested  :y

If you get the Meguiar's DA kit, you can't go wrong - just follow the instructions, medium speed, light pressure, and use only the supplied polishes.

ETA - and it's important to have a properly prepared surface, ie washed thoroughly, clayed, then washed again. :y

I bought a silverline DA about a year ago, from DW member, but never got round to getting relevant pads, etc. Meguiars is probably the way forward though  :y
Used the smooth surface clay kit last weekend for the first time - magic! Thought it was all hype, but does a great job  :y

I warn you, it's a slippery slope. Again, no pun intended. You'll end up getting more and more things, noticing the tiniest of improvements to justify it, ignoring the fact it'll be mucky within a day. Just ask Woman, whose new kitchen is half-filled with boxes of detailing junk...
